Anatomy of a Film is maintained by me, Hunter Calley, from the beautiful and rainy, Portland, Oregon. I have a masters in Conflict Resolution from Portland State with a focus on the United Nations. During my time in graduate school I developed an intense passion for film and the power of global storytelling, so much so that I am now starting this blog!
I like to describe myself as The Ultimate Movie Enjoyer, as you can probably gather that from my Letterboxd rating curve. You are likely to find more praise than harsh criticism on this blog, but there certainly are a handful movies out there that I genuinely despise that will likely appear in the canon of these reviews. I review every movie I watch on my Letterboxd, from jokey one-liners to more in depth reviews. Usually, they fall somewhere in the middle. The aim of this site is to take deep dives on films or creators that resonate with me (or other contributors) on a personal level. I hope you enjoy!
